Alida County: Alida Fire Department



Alida - County is a (fitctiv) district in South Carolina with approx. 15,000 inhabitants. The surroundings are to be considered as rather rural and big farm areas determine the picture of this area. The ground is valid as very fertile, so that also many oranges - plantations are settled here, although the temperatures lie during the summer months mostly more than 40 degrees centigrade. The real city of "Alida" exists of many mostly one to two-storied houses and one finds there the urban infrastructure (supermarkets; filling station; cinema; however, doctors etc.), the "life" happens, as already mentioned, on the farms and plantation. The town Alida owns several fire stations:

Most vehicles become because of the tense financial situation of the Departments mostly uses bought and by div. Companies worked off or to the interests of the Departments conformist. Often selected vehicles of the FDNY are acquired by what the very big number of different vehicles of the Factory Seagrave explains itself. Completely new vehicles are rather the exception, however, are also procured at times. On account of the tense finances one renounces a great design with the vehicles and concentrates upon the real equipment and the duties of these vehicles, namely the extinguishing of fires, as well as help of all kind.

General v. Steuben Avenue

The Center for Special Operations is located in the northeastern of the city Alida. Here are all the special vehicles and units located, which are not used for fire fighting. The location is chosen so that all locations can be reached within the city from 10 to minutes. In addition, located on the grounds of the Fire Department's own workshops and also any spare vehicles (Reserve Engine´s or Ladder´s) are standing here.

Emergency Medical Service

The medical care is covered by different hospitals in the Alida County. The transport mostly lies in the hand of the Fire Departments. For this different vehicles are reproached. The locations of these vehicles are mostly on the normaly Fire Stations, there is also so-called MedicPoints in which, for example, are only Paramedics stationed. Also the Hospital´s have own Paramedics or Ambulances for the Emergency Medical Service.

Alida County: Fire Department Wilhelmsburg



Wilhelmsburg is the second largest town in Alida County and maintains own Fire Department. The Department and his construction or organization is leaned very strongly against the F.D.N.Y. Therefore, there are some guards whose equipment mostly exists of an Engine and a Ladder, only in the exceptional case still additional special vehicles are stationed there.

Alida County: Fire Department Vicksburg


In the north-east of Alida County lies the provincial town of Vicksburg with just 5,000 inhabitants. Bigger industry or trade is not settled here, but the picture of this town is drawn by big senior citizen's residences and so called "Trailer Parks". Here on account of the good climatic relations many senior citizens have prepared her age seat.

The Fire Department Vickburg is completely accommodated in the "Central Fire station" where also local the "Police Department" and the prison is. The local emergency call also accumulates in the insurance Policy Department by which from the Voluntary Fire Fighters then are alarmed. The Fire Department Vickburg exists of a total of 30 "Volunteer Fire Fighter" by 8 vehicles. Here on account of the low application figures and a chronic lack of money of the town, one finds only the most necessary emergency vehicles in a relatively simple implementation.

Alida County: Fire Department Nass


The town Nass with her 5.000 inhabitants lies in the middle west of the Alida - county. The prevailing population is intended in Irish stocky and that's why becomes yearly to the patron saint of Ireland 'Saint Patric' with a big party and a relocation. The Fire Department takes part of course also in this parade and shows vehicles from the past and present and of course from the pool of the vehicles at present in use standing in the application.

Alida County: Five Point Fire Company


Five Point is no right place in the real sense, but a popular holiday point wherefore many enterprises are begins. From here, for example, vast wanderings can be done, but also the lake "Deep Water" is liked by anglers very much. That's why many hotels, motels and also smaller pensions have settled here. Because the assurances of the single enterprises have a so-called "fire clausel" in her contracts, so that a voluntary fire company by two vehicles was set up here. The fire company exists of a total of 10 persons and is alarmed about the local emergency call, or by the release of a fire registration arrangement in one of the houses. Since the fire company exist here they have only 2 runs. The vehicles and tools are accommodated, by the way, in a barn something beyond the place. From here they are brought by 2 persons to the application place, the rest of the team proceeds most directly to there.

Alida County: Fire Marshall and Fire Incident Support

Alida County also maintains a Fire Marshall and Incident Support with the preventive fire prevention and the fire causes inquiry occupied. This department is responsible for the whole county, and has her seat in Alida. The Marshall and the Support not belong to the Fire Department - Alida County, however, falls back in special cases with pleasure on the experience or technical equipment of the Department.

Alida County: Fort Riley


Alida County has, how often in the USA, also a military base. In the east of the county lies Ford Riley with the 4-th US Cavalry Regiment. The "Pale Riders" are stationed there. Now it is not as well as in the good old time in which such a cavalry - regiment with horses has moved out but substantially more fashionably. The regiment orders more than nearly 70 helicopters of different size, to a surely big vehicle park by different vehicles and also, otherwise, a lot of equipment. The base disposes of a airfield, to an munition depot, however, also about various houses and apartments for the soldiers stationed there. Likewise the whole infrastructure is they is required exists, one could speak of a "military town". The fire prevention lies of course with the US Army which reproaches for this with vehicles. A big problem is the water supply, so that for this also vehicles exist.

Alida County: Fire Department Acton by Sea (A.B.S.)


Acton by Sea lies in the western part of Alida – county and is an ambitious provincial town with approx. 1.000 inhabitants. In spite of this actually small municipality, Acton by Sea affords a Fire – Department which is taken with 10 full-time "Fire - Fighters" and is complemented with voluntary forces. The rescue service is, like almost everywhere in the USA, not with the fire brigade settled, but is guaranteed by the local hospital and two private suppliers. Only in special cases the engine 2 moves out to such emergencies. The Department is split in a main guard "Heineken - Road" and the outside base "Down Town". In the supra-local help the Fire Department Acton by Sea puts the 4-th battalion. There is equipped the Department by a total of 3 vehicles which are in spite of her age in a very good state, so that new vehicles are not waiting here.

Alida County: Department Protection District Pinewood



Pinewood is one of the smallest places in Alida County. The whole number of inhabitants amounts no more as 300 persons. To the local fire prevention the municipality makes available a vehicle – "Engine" - that exclusively is taken by voluntary firefighters and a partial unity of the Destricts it is. The vehicle, as well as the other devices, in a garage of the local house is accommodated. The emergency call within Pinewood, accumulates in the constantly occupied office of the sheriff who undertakes all other necessary steps, as for example the alarm by means of siren.

Alida County: Department of Forestry (DOF)



In the USA the national forest management (Department of Forestry) maintains own application forces and vehicles to the fight against bush fires and forest fires. Especially during the summer months explains to this one very much big danger. Also commercial companies are used with the firefighting. The Departments maintain for this also so-called "Tactical Stations" in those the fire engines and other equipment is accommodated, nevertheless, constantly these stations are not taken. According to alert phase the stations with full-time staff are taken. The vehicles have not necessarily full-time staff, are trained rather here forces for a season and are put, also, e.g., prisoner are used.

Bureau of Land Managment - Lower Potomac Field Station

Alida County is located a station of the Bureau of Land Managment for fire fighting and to have, especially in the summer months, enough personnel and vehicles/fire truck´s. In the winter months, the station is not staffed by go. The BLM works in Alida County very closely with the Department of Forestry.

The Wellington National Park in County Alida makes it necessary that vehicles are maintained to the bush or forest fires, this danger is not to be underestimated, as recent years have shown. Since you did not want to rely on a private vehicle concept for cost reasons here, we draw on vehicle types which have already been proven in the BLM, Department of Forestry and the Bureau of Indian Affairs. The entire range of vehicles available there can be found in small numbers in Alida County. The vehicles are stationed at one station in Wellington National Park during the winter months but the staff is greatly thinned because then hardly apply inserts. Assuming and financed these units, vehicles and equipment from the State of South Carolina, as this is a National Park. Similar units of this type are found in California - 'CAL Fire', which are also funded by the California State / entertained.
